As part of the Age Friendly Island Programme we have been working with Tower House Surgery in Ryde on the Isle of Wight, to understand what needs to be in place to make GP Surgeries Age Friendly.
With Tower House’s Patient Participation Group and the Age Friendly Island Public Forums we worked together to produce a short film based on Tower House describing what has been achieved to date and a toolkit which works through the process of engaging with the public to achieve this.
Please watch the video (below) on Making GP Surgeries Age Friendly, which highlights how Tower House Surgery has become Age Friendly and the benefits this has for their patients.

The Toolkit – a guide to helping other surgeries become Age Friendly.
In addition to the video we also produced a comprehensive booklet that is aimed at all staff working within GP Surgeries and those based within Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs). It provides ideas and suggestions for simple steps which can be taken to involve your patients, staff and local community groups in making your surgery Age Friendly.
